There are good Israeli folk dancing opportunities in Gainesville for both group and partner dances. Beginners are welcome and no partner is needed.
On most Monday nights join Israeli Folk Dancing at B'nai Israel in Gainesville. The first part of the evening is for beginners. Afterwards, the dancing goes faster and is for more experienced dancers, though everyone is welcome to participate. At the end of the evening, Israeli partner dances are done.
Each quarter of the year, this group runs a four week session Israeli Folk Dancing 101 through Santa Fe College Community Education for new dancers. This is a great time to start with other new dancers, all going at a slow, easy pace.
This group also occassionally brings in choreographers and well-known instructors for special workshops. Shlomo Bachar, Yoav Ashriel and Ira Weisburd have done Israeli folk dance workshops in Gainesville.
Kol Simcha has Israeli folk dancing most weeks on Wednesdays in Gainesville. This group meets at Kol Simcha with a lesson and dancing. Everyone is welcome.
Once a year Kol Simcha brings in Dany Benshalom from Israel and Ruthy Slann to teach a north Florida workshop in February.
