We're back home!  (Dancing to Bare Necessities on St. Croix was a real treat; we had 14 dance sessions for a total of 31 hours of dance!  There were dancers from all parts of the US, Cananda, and Denmark.)  Thanks to Pat Morse for filling in and calling the dances while we were away.  Come and dance some Valentine themed dances on Monday, February 14.  All dancers and musicians are welcome. No experience, partner, or special dress is necessary (unless you want to wear red!).  Please bring a snack to share.

Here's something we learned which was very useful:  Did you ever make a mistake or the person next to you did?  Don't spend time thinking about what went wrong or helping the  other person.  Move forward to the next move--otherwise you're likely to make another mistake because you were dwelling on the past and not moving forward!  There's no time during the dance for explanation.  Let the caller's prompts be heard for the next move.

Last week there were 6 musicians!! Pat called the following dances:

Rufty Tufty (2 cpl; lead away with ptr; turn; come back; turn single cloverleaf; same with nbr)
Upon a Summer’ Day (3 cpl; bottom two couples form an arch, first couple goes through)
Black Nag (3 cpl; long corners change—point right shoulders, gallop passing back to back to the other’s place)
Miss Sayers' Allemande (3 cpl; lines of 3 set L and R twice)
Geud Man of Ballengigh (LW one's lead through 2's; men through women; 2's through 1's; women through men)
The Comical Fellow (LW 4 claps 2 times)
Flowers of Edinburgh (LW 1st woman followed by partner dances down the womans line and up the men's side)

Duke of Kent (LW waltz-time; box the gnat; swat the flea)

*Female Sayler (LW 1st cpl up through 2's above, cast down; lead through 2's below, cast back to place)

Auretti's Dutch Skipper (easy longway dance)
* Requested to be done again next time
