Lots of dance news.
UF Tango is at 308 West this Friday night at 8, only $5 at 9 pm for the public, or $10 if coming for the lesson beforehand. UF Swing Club is at the Reitz Union at the same time.
Saturday night is Josh Angel's IndepenDance at 308 West, which is one of two new programs at 308 West: (1) Josh Angel's West Coast Swing dances on the first Saturday and third Wednesday of each month, and (2) Essie Jennings Wednesday night West Coast Swing classes on every Wednesday except the third. Attending these programs gives you a discount to my Sunday Lindy Hop class, so you almost get two for one.
You have three dances, back to back to back on Sunday, all within walking distance.
Start with Tango Pavadita dance practice on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5, which is a wonderful opportunity for you to grow your Tango in a low pressure atmosphere where you can experiment and explore.
Then go to the Boltin Center for a Contra Dance from 4 to 7 on Sunday.
And back to 308 West for Swing with our Sunday July schedule: 6:30 to 7 exercises to help your dancing, 7 to 8 Slow Lindy, and 8 to 9 Hustle! We spend a lot of time dancing as well as learning. Good for all levels. If you pay to attend any other program at 308 West during the prior week, you can attend our Sunday evening session for only $5. If you pay for two programs, the cost is only $3. The more you dance, the more you save.
My Swinging Soul Dance Party with a mix of mostly oldies music may resume on one Sunday during the month, which will give you a chance to dance Lindy Hop, East and West Coast Swing, Hustle and a little bit of Salsa, Cha Cha, a country Waltz and a Two Step or two.
If you go to my Sunday night class, you can join us at Israeli Dancing on Mondays at B'nai Israel for free, even July 4.
Richard's fun East Coast Swing class is on Tuesdays at the Boltin Center 6:50 to 9:00.
Christian Campbell added another night so you can now dance Balboa on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.

Article: You Never Pull
A few months ago, I wrote about how a new dancer devolved
from a relaxed state to a nervous state.

When I first danced with her she was comfortable.
Later, when I get back to her again, her fingers were
instinctively grasping and she was off balance.
This is what happened to her after only an hour of
guys throwing her around and telling her what to do.
Last Sunday, Laura showed up late to Josh's West Coast Swing Dance.
When I started dancing with her she said, "You are pulling.
You never pull."
She was right. I had not noticed I was pulling, could hardly
tell I was doing it and could not stop.
This is what happens after three hours of West Coast Swing,
despite six years of training. The mind seeks to save itself.
