1:00 - 2:30 Beginner, $20
3:00 - 4:30 Experienced, $20

$30 for both workshops

We are very fortunate to have Mary Beth Taylor, TCRG (certified Irish dance teacher) from Dublin, Ireland, conduct Sean nos workshops.

Sean-nós dance (“old style”) Irish dance is a joyful expression of movement and sound. Considered to be one of the earliest forms of Irish step dancing, sean-nós is an expressive solo style, which includes footwork danced close-to-the-floor, a relaxed upper body, and a playful dialogue between the dance and the music.

Please wear shoes with a smooth hard sole, comfortable clothing, and bring a water bottle (there is no water fountain). If you are doing both workshops, you might also want to bring a snack.

Beginners can be complete beginners, but I recommend taking the beginner class, even if you are experienced. It never hurts to review foundation movements from the perspective of a different teacher. I will be taking the beginner class myself, as I always feel I discover something new. If you are experienced in another form of step dance like clogging, I also highly recommend taking the beginner class. It will help you get the feel of it before going into the next class.

Experienced dancers are those who are already comfortable with sean nos stepping, or dancers who are experienced in other step dance traditions.

Please reply to Piper on or before January 5 to reserve your spot at the workshop.
