Hello Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

Making up for the slow swing weekend that just passed, this is dance party week.

Tonight, Wednesday, is Josh's monthly West Coast Swing dance party.

Saturday night Richard is hosting a Beat the Heat Mostly Swing Dance at the Boltin Center.

Sunday from 4 to 8, Josh is having a birthday party for his mom Marla at the Eagles Club with plenty of dance music and everyone is invited free.

The Swing music will include: Big-Band tunes from the 30's & 40's, early rock and roll from the 50's and 60's, rock & roll/funk from the 70's & 80's, and a couple of Texas blues and rock-and roll swing tunes from the 90's. Foxtrot, cha-cha, rumba, waltz, hustle, nightclub, Cajun and Western 2-step, zydeco, electric-slide, and maybe a tango.

Hopefully I will have a mini-lesson for the "Shim-sham"-one of the first line dances; done to swing music made popular in the late 1920's. Remember-"no excuses! Hope to see you on the dance floor.
