Enjoy dancing and watching your friends dance, chat and socialize, get some exercise, and enjoy good music. The program of contra and ECD (and a free waltz or two) is selected by the caller to be easy to do and satisfying with one or two people.

Our caller, Claire Takemori delights in helping the dance community. She is known as a welcoming caller with clear teaching, and a fun variety of dances.

Our musicians are Glen Loper and Bethany Waickman - two-thirds of Stomp Rocket. Bethany is a guitarist and pianist based in Portland, Maine. She accompanies some of the country's finest players, be it at dance halls, pub sessions, or on the concert stage. Bethany is a mainstay in the New England contradance circuit, playing in countless combinations of the scene's myriad musicians.

Raised in southern Maine, Glen has played mandolin for over twenty years. He turned his focus to fiddle music after discovering the contradance scene in college. Since then, he has dedicated as much time as possible to traditional music and dance. Glen has toured with a number of bands to play dances, and festivals across the country. He also enjoys teaching music from him home in Portland, ME, where he gives private lesson for mandolin and tenor banjo. (www.glenloper.com)

Doors open at 7:00 Eastern for a Zoom lesson for those who would like it and social time for those who’ve done it before. Be sure to clear out some dance space in your house, charge your device, and come on down (virtually, of course) to enjoy this dance and community event. Dancing starts at 7:30 with the last waltz at 8:45, and the hall will remain open for another 15 minutes for chitchat and farewells. Note: Atlanta DistDance uses gender-free calling (larks and robins).

Please share with your friends near and far! Hope to see you Friday!

Atlanta DistDances are a community service of Seth Tepfer, Kimbi Sessions Hagen, Robbin L Marcus & Dave Marcus. They are not sponsored by the Chattahoochee Contra Dancers or ECD Atlanta.
