Argentine Tango and Swing with Andy 4 of 6

Thu 6 Oct, 6-8 pm. 6:00 to 7:00 pm Beginning Argentine Tango. 7:00 to 8:00 pm Beginning Swing. These are social dance classes. The focus is on having fun, while you learn to dance with a partner. You build your confidence in a non-judgmental atmosphere. No one tells anyone else what to do. Safety comes first. These are gentle classes. There is no pushing and no pulling. Everyone does their own dancing. No experienced needed. Good for beginning dancers, as well as experienced dancers who want to come out and dance. There is a lot of dance time. Couples friendly classes. You can dance just with your partner, if you like. Singles friendly classes. No partner needed. We do rotate partners, for those that want. Two classes for the price of one. Argentine Tango Seminar and Practica with Gerardo and Nico from Buenos Aires 3 of 4

Fri 7 Oct, 7-11 pm. Gerardo (Buenos Aires) and Nico (Buenos Aires, Gainesville) will be teaching Argentine Tango for a special four week seminar with beginners classes from 7 to 8, and intermediate classes from 8 to 9. We will focus on technique, the embrace, and steps for social dancing at the milonga. The class will be followed by a practica. $10 for 1 class, $15 if you come for both. $10 practica but it is included if you take a class. No partner necessary. Lindy Style Swing and Beginning Hustle 3 of 3

Mon 10 Oct, 5:30-7:15 pm. 5:30 to 6:15 pm Lindy Style Swing. 6:15 to 7:15 pm Hustle for Beginners. Continuing two awesomely fun dances. Lindy Style Swing is the most versatile of the partner dances and the mother of all swing dancing. We dance to the great music of the classic swing and jazz era as well as lots of newer music up to contemporary times. You dance at a comfortable speed. Lindy is a great dance for learning musicality and improvisation. The second dance is the exhilarating Hustle. This is the dance that kept partner dancing alive during the 1970s and 1980s. Hustle inspired the cool moves you see in Salsa. Hustle helps you to learn precision and turning. Jacare Brazil with Juliana Azoubel at Bo Diddley Plaza

It is a pleasure to welcome choreographer and performer Juliana Azoubel, professor of dance, Dance Education Program, School of Fine Arts, Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil. The Center for World Arts, the School of Theatre and Dance and the School of Music have enjoyed a wonderful friendship with Juliana Azoubel for almost two decades.
