Sat 10 Dec, 7 pm. Najmah Nour and Oralia are excited to present: Night on the Nile: Improv Edition. It has been almost three years since our last event. But we are back and ready to have a blast.
Want to Perform? There are 2 performance options:
Option 1-Dancers can choose their own song
Option 2-Join Najmah and Oralia and have a crazy wild time by just choosing a genre (Shaabi, Pop, Classic Egyptian, Fusion) and your lovely hosts will pull a random song out of the song jar for you to improvise to.
Event hosts, Najmah and Oralia are ready for a crazy wild time and will be choosing option 2, the random improv.
How to sign up:
1. If you would like to perform please let Najmah know through email najmahdance@gmail.com
2. Choose your genre or let us know you are bringing your own music (4 minutes or less please)
3. If signing up for the improv. option, please choose your genre you want to dance to from the following list:

First, we will start with a SHIMMY CLINIC!
Need a shimmy tune-up? Learn psoas stretching techniques and weight placement strategies to make your shimmies come to life. Build stamina, depth and speed to take your shimmies to the next level!
Next up--POWER SURGE
Give your audience more to chew on and leave a lasting impact through strength, dynamism and power! Students will be lead through three music clips of differing musical styles and guided on how to supercharge and strengthen their choreographies via advanced concepts of musicality and abstraction.

Workshop 1
TECHNIQUE, FANS, AND SEVILLANAS
Saturday, September 7th, 12-2pm
The first hour Vanessa will dive deep into Flamenco Technique starting with posture, arms and feet then she will move to a flamenco favorite, Fans!
The fan is a traditionally added to compliment flamenco dance. It is known for its artistic expression not only in Flamenco but in all of Spanish Culture.
Second hour she will share with us the Spanish tradition of Sevillanas! These dances come from Sevilla and its region. They were derived from seguidilla, and old Castilian folk music and dance genre in the 19th century and were influenced by Flamenco. Sevillanas are traditionally danced during Feria (lots of people go as tourist to La Feria de Sevilla/ Feria de Abril) and it is pretty cool to be able to participate in the festivities by ... FEATURED PERFORMER--VANESSA CERALLO
Our featured performer, Vanessa Cerallo is originally from Caracas, Venezuela where she started dancing Flamenco at a very young age at the El Rocio Flamenco School with the famous dancer—Diana Patricia “La Macarena”.
Currently, she performs weekly shows at Ceviche in downtown Saint Petersburg with Sombras Flamencas--with whom she has performed with for over 10 years! In addition, she performs monthly shows at Spain Restaurant in downtown Tampa, she used to perform at the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor city and she performs in many private and public functions like performing at the Palladium Theatre with amazing musicians like Kafkasso. Egyptian Entrance Choreography Workshop 1
In this workshop, you will learn how to understand the instrumentation of an entrance piece, i.e. what it's "saying." As she breaks down her choreography, Luna will walk you through her thought process, explaining how she hears the music, how and why she chooses steps and transitions, how she structures her performances, and breaking down technique. Luna is a firm believer in the benefits of using choreography to teach musicality, NOT merely as a memory or copying exercise. And you'll go home with a brand new choreography to perform, if you so choose.
