The Charleston! A super fun and flashy style of swing dancing that's all about kicks, high energy, and fast dancing! You can dance Charleston by yourself or with a partner, and you can mix in Charleston moves when dancing Lindy Hop or Solo Jazz. Join us in a special lesson series for the month of November covering all things solo and partner Charleston!

Hi there! My name is Chris Ortega. When I went to my first swing dance 3 years ago in Gainesville, I instantly fell in love with Lindy Hop, Charleston, and other swing dances, and I want to share these awesome dance styles with you!!
Join me and Jennifer Fill on Monday nights at the UF Reitz Union Dance Studios for a FREE 1-hour lesson each night followed by 45 minutes of open practice. Here's the lowdown:
PRICE: Absolutely FREE!!
WHERE: UF Reitz Union Dance Studios, located in the Lower Level (i.e. basement) of the UF Reitz Union
PARKING: Parking is free at the Reitz Union Parking Garage after 4:30 pm. For most other parking lots at UF, parking decal restrictions lift after 5:30 pm. I recommend coming 15 minutes early if it's your first time coming to the Reitz Union at UF, to allow for enough time to find the garage and the dance studios.
WHO ARE THESE LESSONS FOR?
All members of the Gainesville community are welcome, this includes UF students and non-students alike! No dance partner is necessary, we will rotate partners frequently throughout the lesson.
Each lesson will cover solo and partner Charleston fundamentals and moves. I recommend these lessons for someone who has taken at least one beginner Lindy Hop lesson, but no prior dance experience is necessary. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
