Argentine Tango Milonga El Abrazo with Live Music

Special Milonga El Abrazo de Gainesville with Live Music with the Maldito Tango Duo from San Francisco. Two live sets starting at 9:00 and 11:00. Recorded music sets for dancing with DJ El Stevito at 8:00 and 10:00. Public milonga for Argentine Tango dancers. Held regularly on the second Saturday of each month. Non-dancers welcome to come and watch for free. Music is predominately Golden Age 1935-1945, some 20s and 50s, some Alternative and Nuevo. Bring drinks and snacks.

Bandoneonist Charles Gorczynski leads the Redwood Tango Ensemble, a highly active and touring ensemble devoted to the art of live music in the milonga.

Guitarist Scott O'Day has studied in Argentina with many of the great guitarists in tango, most notably Anibal Arias (who worked closely with Anibal Troilo), and is widely considered one of the strongest guitarists playing tango in the US.

The two bring a strong pulse and deep feel for this music to the dance floor using one of Tango's most iconic instrumentations.

Time: 8:00 pm to midnight. Two live sets starting at 9:00 and 11:00. Recorded music sets for dancing with DJ El Stevito at 8:00 and 10:00.

Special Tango dance performance by Argentinian Hugo Juan-Ramon from Buenos Aries/Washington D.C. with partner Andrea Hoa Pham from Gainesville following the first live set at approximately 10:00.

Location: Milonga El Abrazo de Gainesville is held regularly on the second Saturday of each month since September 14, 2013 at "The Movement Zumba Studio" 1212 N. Main St., Gainesville, Florida 32601. (On the West side of the street in the Gainesville Shopping Center three stores south of the Publix Supermarket. Easy parking near the front door. Security Guard on duty until midnight.)
